Bob Valerius

In the fall of 1998, Bob made his first visit to Haiti.  Haiti
captured his heart on that first trip and he has made seven
more trips down, bringing his son Anthony and friends from
his congregation near Annapolis, Maryland.

Bob was previously the Chairman of the HCF board, but
stepped down for the year of 2006, because he and Anthony
moved to Haiti for a year.  Bob served as the Interim
Coordinator for the CBT during a year of special programs to
train our graduates to teach the things they have learned at
the CBT.   Bob is now seeking support to return to Haiti to
work with the Cap Haitien Children's Home in the fall of '07.

A Message from our Interim Coordinator:

Dear Brother or Sister in Christ,

Welcome to the web page of the Haitian Christian Foundation.
Thanks for being here.  I encourage you to look around and
find out about what we do and who are the Haitian people.

The Haitians are not just "poor people".  They have needs and
wants, just like you and me.  However, their needs and wants
are more concerned with survival and their daily bread, not
which car they are going to buy or where they should go on
this year's vacation.  But much more important, they have
spiritual needs just as you and I do.  Their country was literally
dedicated to Satan some 200 years ago.  This is why voodoo is
still prevalent there.  Because God is more powerful than
Satan, the island is being claimed in the name of Jesus.  Eighty
years ago there were no churches of Christ in Haiti.  Now there
are more than a hundred in the north alone!

God is blessing this country in a mighty way.   He will be
glorified in Haiti, that is beyond question.  You have an
opportunity to be a part of His glorious work there.  You can
pray for us, you can come visit us, or you can donate to us.
Lord willing, you will do all 3.

Don't think "come visit us" is just a generic invitation.  We
mean it! Just about 4 years ago (Fall, 1998), I took the
invitation seriously.  The brochure said to "step out on faith",
so I stepped out on faith.  I have now been there 9 times on
short trips, and now am living at the CBT.   In June/July 2001,
and I brought my  son (then 11 years old) and we stayed for
3 weeks.  So indeed, Haiti is safe.

We invite you to come visit us soon.  See the Center for Biblical
Training (CBT).  Meet our graduates like Duchange, Alfred,
Solius, and the others.  Meet Moise who works there and
Fonrose, one of our Haitian faculty members.  After you have
met them, then let's go out to some of the churches where our
graduates minister.  We could go to see Joseph Joel in Duty, or
maybe go into the city of Cap Haitien and see what Cherfils
Wisner is doing in the Saint Philemon section of the city.  See
what wondrous things God is doing through the graduates of
the CBT.  And don't be embarrassed if it brings a tear or more
to your eyes.  It happened to all of us!
