An Encouraging Visit
Dale Huff's Report
Dale Huff served as the director of the CBT in Haiti with our second class.  He continues to travel to Haiti several times
a year to teach special seminars for our students and graduates.  Dale and Gary Moore also visit the graduates and
their congregations to encourage them in their work for the Lord.  Dale directs our academic program and has been
active in developing materials for our translation project.  Dale and Gary both live in Snyder, Texas, where Dale serves
as a preacher and Gary as a deacon at the 34th Street Church of Christ. --

Gary Moore and I were privileged to spend 10 days at the Center for Biblical Training
in Cap-Haitien from June 12 - June 21.  Gary taught Bible History in the afternoon and
I taught a course on Psalms in the morning.  We attended chapel at 7:15 AM every
morning and ate with the men two times a day.  We only left the school a few times
and were able to be there to observe daily life and work at the school.  There were
several things that really stood out to Gary and myself.

This is the first trimester for the fourth group of students.  Their classes began on May
7, so when Gary and I arrived at the school, the school was in its sixth week of
operation.  Six godly Haitian preachers are teaching classes in the school.  Lucner
Pierre, Fonrose Teogene, Bellot Calice, Cherfils Wisnique and James Simeon are
teaching regular courses throughout each week pertaining to Bible study and
preaching.  Aspile Fleurant comes to the school on some Saturdays to teach important
material related to Haitian law regarding churches and ministers.  Three of these men,
Fonrose Teogene, Bellot Calice and Cherfils Wisnique are serving as a leadership team
for the school with each one having distinct areas of responsibility.  David Dirrim is in
constant communication with Fonrose pertaining to daily operation and is recognized
by the students and the leaders as the Director of the school.  Gary and I were both
impressed with the way that these men were working together in the school.  There
was real respect for these men, but they led with a humble and not a domineering
attitude.  We were especially impressed with the way they conferred together and
worked together on problems and challenges as they came up.

Several other things made an impression on Gary and myself. Chapel started every
morning at precisely 7:15 AM.  One of the twelve men who are studying and growing
at the school gave a lesson during that devotional period.  They were always well
prepared for their time.  Gary and I would also announce the time that our classes
would start each day, as the schedule would vary a little bit from time to time.  The
men always gathered promptly.  The discipline of the school was obvious and
impressive.  We were able to attend the services of the church at Galman, there by
the school, and we noticed that all of the men were always there and participating,
unless one of them was preaching somewhere else.

During our ten days there, Gary and I were able to visit with each one of the twelve
men that make up this fourth class.  More than any other class, most of these men
come from far away.  The distance is not great in terms of miles or kilometers, but it
is very long in time that it takes to go from their home to the school.  Like all of the
three classes before them, they are making tremendous personal sacrifices.  They
receive no personal support while at the school, only money for transportation and
room and board while they are at the school.  There is a real consciousness that many
other brothers and sisters are making the school possible by their sacrifices and gifts
for the school.  They pray for their supporters regularly.  As Gary and I visited with
these men, we were impressed with them.  The next three years are going to be big
years for them, and in the years that follow we can be confident that they will be even
stronger servants of the Lord because of their time there.

If you are supporting the school as an individual or a church, you can be sure that the
money you are sending is going to a very worthwhile work in the kingdom of God.
