translate selected courses from
the Sunset International Bible
Institute into Creole. These will
be used by our graduates and
made available to the church at

Report on the Translation Project:
During the year of 2006, we began to prepare teaching material in Haitian Creole
for Haitians to use. Many seminars were focused on preparing that material.
David Dirrim prepared translations of various courses to take into Haiti. Haitian
brethren then checked the translations and offered suggestions if they felt that
the wording could be better expressed in a different way.
The first one of these translation seminars took place on March 7 - 10, 2006 at
the Center for Biblical Training. I prepared material on "Obeying Jesus, Lessons
for Living from the Sermon on the Mount." During the four days, approximately
28 of the graduates attended the seminar at various times. The men were
divided into 10 groups with a good English to Creole translator in each group.
Each group took at least one chapter and translated it into Creole. Those who
were not able to translate from English to Creole participated by reading,
listening and offering suggestions on how it might be communicated effectively in
Creole. The seminar finished with a good Creole text of the material that David
Dirrim will edit and make into a text. The course emphasized putting Jesus'
words into practice, and each lesson contained material that the Haitian
brethren felt was very applicable to the needs of Haiti.
We hope to have a good Creole translation published each year. Be praying for
this effort. The Haitian brethren are working hard and sacrificing to make this
material a reality. Pray also that David will have the strength and endurance
needed in the arduous work of translating.

This course is a challenging study bringing Jesus' revolutionary teaching
to bear on the individual student's life. We are excited to have both our
students and graduates trained with this excellent course, so that they
will be ready to share it with their congregations and leaders immediately.
We anticipate an enthusiastic response in Bible students both in the
churches of Christ and denominational groups as they study this
important passage of Christ's teaching.
