of the common man.
In order to make Bible study
materials more accessible, we are
working to translate selected
courses from the Sunset
International Bible Institute into
Creole. These will be used in our
Annex schools and will also be
made available to the church at
large.

Dale Huff and David Dirrim are leading the translation efforts. In 2006, David
will devote his time to translation full-time. He and Dale will spend time with
Haitian preachers making sure the translations are accurate and clear to the
average Haitian.

Dale's March 2006 Report on the Translation Project:
During the year of 2006, we hope to be able to prepare teaching material in
Haitian Creole for the Haitians to use. Many seminars will be focused on
preparing that material. David Dirrim is preparing translations of various
courses that he will take into Haiti. Haitian brethren will then check the
translations and offer suggestions if they feel that the wording could be
better expressed in a different way.
The first one of these translation seminars took place on March 7 - 10 at
the Center for Biblical Training. I prepared material on "Obeying
Jesus, Lessons for Living from the Sermon on the Mount." During the four days
approximately 28 of the graduates attended the seminar at various times. The
men were divided into 10 groups with a good English to Creole translator in
each group. Each group took at least one chapter and translated it into
Creole. Those who were not able to translate from English to Creole
participated by reading, listening and offering suggestions on how it might be
communicated effectively in Creole. The seminar finished with a good Creole
text of the material that David Dirrim will edit and make into a text. The
course emphasized putting Jesus' words into practice, and each lesson contained
material that the Haitian brethren felt was very applicable to the needs of Haiti.
We hope to have a good Creole translation of at least six courses by the end
of the year. Be praying for this effort. The Haitian brethren are working
hard and sacrificing to make this material a reality. Pray also that David
will have the strength and endurance needed in the arduous work of translating.
